CAEP Accountability Measures (for CHEA Requirements)

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) requires that the College of Education and Human Services report on and display four CAEP Accountability Measures. These measures provide students and stakeholders with information and data on Lindenwood University’s Education Preparation Providers (EPP) teacher candidate and graduate outcomes and impact on P-12 students.

The College of Education and Human Services reports can be found in the following list of CAEP measures with links to the supporting evidence and documentation.

Measure 1 (Initial): Completer effectiveness. (R4.1) Data must address: (a) completer impact in contributing to P-12 student-learning growth AND (b) completer effectiveness in applying professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions.

The COEHS has administered a survey for program completers from 2021-2022 to share their most recent Missouri Educator Evaluation System (MEES) results, as prepared by their supervising principal.  This survey will help the COEHS/EPP identify and analyze the impact that our program completers have on P-12 student learning and growth, as well as their effectiveness in applying professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions.

Measure 2 (Initial and Advanced): Satisfaction of employers and stakeholder involvement. (R4.2|R5.3| RA4.1)

Each year, the Office of Social and Economic Data Analysis (OSEDA) and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) collects data from the principals of first-year teachers across the state of Missouri. This survey provides satisfaction ratings from principals of first-year teachers who completed an education preparation program through Lindenwood University’s College of Education and Human Services. This data is collected annually by DESE and OSEDA for the Curriculum and Instruction Teacher Education program, as well as the School Counseling and School Administration programs. The supervisors of first-year counselors and principals are also surveyed each year to measure the effectiveness of those who complete the COEHS school counseling and school administration programs.

Measure 3 (Initial and Advanced): Candidate competency at completion. (R3.3)

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education publishes annual performance reports for completers of the LU COEHS programs that provide Initial Teacher Certification, as well as the advanced programs.

 Initial teacher certification completers are defined as candidates who have earned a teacher education degree and qualify for Missouri teaching certification. Advanced program completes are defined as individuals who have earned a school counseling degree and qualify for counseling certification.  

Candidates seeking building- and district-level administration certification are not required to pass the Missouri Content Assessment to complete the program. They are required to pass the content assessment for certification.. Therefore, not all program completers will be able to provide this information to the COEHS at the time of their graduation.

Measure 4 (Initial and Advanced): Ability of completers to be hired (in positions for which they have prepared.)

Each year, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education provides employment data on education personnel who completed a program of study through Lindenwood University's EPP and are currently employed in K-12 Missouri Public Schools.
